Traditional Colonial Cuchara Style Tupo

Handmade in Cusco by our artisan partners, Gregorio Cachi and his daughter Hilda.  Both acknowledged by UNESCO  for their commitment to preserving the finest traditions of the Peruvian artisan culture.This is a traditional colonial cuchara style tupo in 950 silver.  A beautifully simple, colonial spoon design of flowers and leaves.

These cuchara style tupos  (broaches, pins), were used keep shawls or blankets in place.  The long stem of the spoon was woven through the shawl then affixed using a hook on the underside of the spoon.  This tupo is fully functional and intended to be used.

There is a small, handmade,removable cap at the bottom of the pin.
