Peru is a country rich with natural resources, wildlife, stunning scenery, and celebrated, delicious cuisine. First inhabited 20,000 years ago, Peru was home to a number of highly developed and sophisticated pre-Columbian cultures, the most well known being the Chavin, Paracas, Nasca, Wari, Moche and of course, the Inka. Each culture developed its own unique architecture, textiles, jewelry and pottery traditions. The influence of the Spanish in the 16th century and, more recently, the melding of European, Japanese and African influences into the fabric of the Peruvian culture has so created one of the most vibrant and talented peoples.
